Naked Truth

I sound the bell early in this post due to its level of urgency. Ladies there is not a second to waste!! The time is at hand, we have been in this place too long.  We shall move and call Heaven to Earth. Have we not called ourselves over-comers, but continually allowed the victory to elude us? We allow ourselves to be trapped. Let us no longer be trapped by the lies we tell ourselves. Can we ask the Great Helper, the Holy Spirit to help us be honest in our secret place? God is a god of truth. What make us think that he will deal with us on any other terms? We ask for the power-on-high to deal with our situation. But we lack the courage to be truthful about our situation. I have two words that I pray will help us all remedy this dilemma. Get Naked!! [More]

I was sitting in my chair at work, and enjoying some down time after my morning rush of clients, when I was taken by surprise by the lyrics of a song that was playing overhead. The lyrics of the song made my eyebrows drop and come together in confusion. Had I heard the songstress correctly? I could not believe what it was that I was hearing, so I closed my eyes, to hear her better and to my amazement I had heard her correctly!

The songstress was indeed telling her story of a cheating lover. He was mentally breaking her down with his lack of respect for her and she was feeling confused about what to do about the situation. The young lady knew that there was someone else in her boyfriend’s life. She confirmed his cheating by putting forth two questions 1. Should she call the chick up and start some mess or 2. Be a lady because she wanted to have his babies? [More]

Taking Care of Business!

March 11, 2010 10:32 am | 3 Comments

Maybe more than once in your life you will look around and ask yourself these two questions:

  1. What is my purpose in life?
  2. And how is it that I am not doing more with the life God has given me?

It is not uncommon to question oneself and sometimes this kind of questioning wakes us up and shakes us out of our daily slumps.

I believe that God has set us free so that we can accomplish his will by taking care of his business. I think that as believers we should be committed to be ready to show the love and power of God. The world so desperately needs to see and know that Gods is here. [More]

Move Past Your Past

I am amazed at how a few words, formed together to make a statement, can evoke a power that you never knew existed. The bible shows us that words are among the most powerful forces on earth. So, I ask you, “What else has the ability to change your mind, move you past your fears and start you in the direction of finding your destiny, other than words?

Words have the ability to do just that and more. Words can touch you, but they never really have to physically touch you. They have the power to move you, like a blowing wind that you can neither see nor smell, yet it can topple you over seemingly effortlessly.  For instance, the spoken words, “I am sorry,” can melt even an offense to your heart.  Words can change the hearts and minds of a whole generation. In fact, it was the power of the spoken word that God used to set the foundation of the earth when he called all things into existence. [More]

Follow The Leader?

One day at work I was having a friendly conversation with one of my clients when she ended our conversation with a statement I have heard all too often.  She said, “These young girls will have to learn the hard way.”

I began to envision a hole in the ground.  The hole was not hidden; it was out in the open for all to see.  I could see a long line of young girls falling into this hole.  I hoped that they would have seen others fall and would have stepped around the hole, but instead they continued to fall into the hole—one right after another, as if each were tied to the girl in front of her and had no control over her decisions to take a different route. Why do We Rush to Grown Up Street?

December 20, 2009 10:56 pm | 2 Comments

I was reading Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 and it made me ask this question. “Why do young ladies rush to Grown Street?” Is it because they think that Grown Street is a place that will disappear before their time?

Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 reveals that there is an appointed time for everything and everything has its appointed time. So again, I ask the million dollar question, “What’s the hurry to be grown?”

Do you all not know that you are only young for a short while and then you have to be grown for the rest of your lives? There are important lessons for you to learn at every stage of development in your lives. You will never run out of things to do or lessons to learn. And the things that you are rushing to experience have their own timer set on them. Do you not understand that it is a luxury to be able to mature at the appointed time? You may say that you have never heard such a silly thing. And you may be right in saying that, but do you think that we, as ladies, can rush our time by not learning to be patient with ourselves? [More]

The Act Was Bad But Baby You Are Not

I asked her to look into the mirror and tell me one thing that she liked about herself.
She looked to the floor and mumbled, “There is nothing that I like about myself. There is nothing good about me.”

It saddened me to hear her say this, so I quickly came to her defense and said, “Just tell me one thing. We don’t need a list of things, just one.”

Now getting upset because of my apparent lack of understanding, she yelled, with a tone of pain and guilt, “No, there’s NOTHING good about me! You don’t know what I have done or what was done to me.”

Thinking I knew all about her. I said, “Ok, tell me the truth about your life, let’s talk,” and boy did she talk. [More]

Who’s R U ?

I was once told that if our young ladies knew who they came from, they would carry themselves more like ladies. And when I heard this I rolled my eyes, not really understanding that those words were so very true.  And the old lady who spoke them to me was opening a window of wisdom I would one day look into and see for myself.

Thank God, I never forgot those words of wisdom because those words stayed on my mind for so long I began asking myself “If they were true?”  Would we, as young ladies, really behave better if we knew from whom we came? Would I have behaved more like a young lady?  But what did knowing where I come from have to do with how I was behaving? [More]

What is a Woman’s Worth?

November 30, 2009 2:16 am | 2 Comments

What is the going price, now-a-days, for a young girl’s heart and soul?  When did we, as a people, stop valuing the precious being called woman?  I would like to say; speak, or even  yell, “How did this happen?  When did it become okay for our ladies to be purchased so cheaply?”

All over the world, God’s creations (women) have no worth. They are often sold into prostitution by their own families!  In Asia and Africa female genital cutting (FGC) is performed on young girls, all for the sake of man’s carnal desires.  And even in my home, the USA, women are often seen as no more than a young piece of meat for the viewer’s pleasure.
